Summer Poem...

I am LOVING the sunshine and warmth of the past few days..., it inspires me to get out and do things..., I don't know if its my imagination, but with all the bright light around me, I feel like I am able to see things more clearly...  Poet Mary Oliver puts it so well in her poem...

The Summer Day

Who made the world?
Who made the swan, and the black bear?
Who made the grasshopper?
This grasshopper, I mean -
the one who has flung herself out of the grass,
the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,
who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down -
who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.
Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.
Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.
I don't know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
with your one wild and precious life?

- Mary Oliver

(I Love her question at the end  - Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life? - I'm not sure I've decided yet - how about you?  Have you decided?)

Beautiful post..beautiful poem..and yes gorgeous question..everyday I make the intention to live and be AWAKE! To shine and sparkle fully like it is my first day ever to discover and my last one ever to spend to walk the world..living in that space makes things spark and bloom!

I hope that I will rejoice in each day the Lord has given me and give thanks to Him for his loving kindness. To live for and with Him is, to me, the best kind of life. And when you fall short, there is mercy waiting and a great big lap for comfort.

XO,

Sheila :-)
